What Causes It?

Where does it all begin?

Each victim has their own unique story, and there is no one thing to pin the problem at. Yet, even so most stories contain common starting points. Most often it is somehow related to poverty, greed and ignorance.

Poverty:

The Philippines has a large population that lives below the poverty level. Often times the children in the Philippines get trafficked and abused because their family is poor. The family becomes desperate and therefore they make poor choices to fill a need. This sadly results in many children being exploited by their own family members or being sold off.

Greed:

Some people only see the value in people in relation to what they can get from them.  This applies to both family members and their children and traffickers who desire the money that is in this 1 billion dollar industry. Abusers and traffickers are blinded by this greed and it is often the force behind their decision to commit these crimes.

Ignorance:

Traffickers often reach out to families in rural areas that are unaware of the dangers of trafficking. They often promise job prospects and secure futures for the children. These families unknowingly will send their children away, only to never see or hear from them again.

In order to stop trafficking and sexual exploitation, we must pursue after righteousness and justice. We must pray for hearts to be changed. So that hearts care enough to act. To rescue and protect children and give them freedom. Help us by donating today.
