A little about me…
God ignited a passion in me for ministering to girls who have been abused and forgotten when I was only six at a mission conference. Studying Amy Carmichael, I decided then that someday I would be like her. I wanted to serve in a home that allows girls, who have suffered through so much, to instead experience the redemptive love of Christ, the kind of love that is never finished writing our stories and can use the hardest chapters for His glory.
In college, I studied how to help people process their life stories in a way that allows them to compare their beliefs and actions to His truth and hopefully enact change. Throughout my time in college as well as the year after, I had the incredible opportunity to work at a camp in Missouri that serves court-ordered youth in residential treatment, many of whom are abused and cast aside by the people who should have loved them the most. There, I received training in how to work with youth who have experienced trauma. Out in the beauty of His creation, these youth experienced the truth of who He created them to be. There, the Lord showed me what it means to be used by Him, even in the midst of Him refining my own heart and holding my broken pieces. I truly believe He has created me to sit with the broken-hearted and proclaim His peace and gospel hope.
While I was working at this camp, Chelsea and I began to discuss the opportunity of partnering with Project Eden to minister to girls who have been abused and trafficked in the Philippines. Since I myself grew up in the Philippines and speak the language, the Filipino people already held a special piece of my heart. From there, the Lord continued to open doors for me to partner with the Harts.
I consider myself blessed to be God’s hands and feet on the ground in the battle for God’s redemption of these girls’ stories. The enemy hates it when we proclaim the Lord in places that the devil considers his territory. However, we are committed to stand our ground against his attacks and do the work necessary to make sure our good intentions actually provide the healing sanctuary in our home for which we have prayed. I look forward to seeing what story the Lord crafts as He uses us, His people, in this difficult work.
