HUMAN TRAFFICKING & EXPLOITATION
HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
This is a crime where a human exploits or controls another human through the use of deceit, force or coercion. Most often the victims are forced into sexual acts or labor in the form of paying off some undefined form of debt. Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal businesses in the world with 40.3 million victims.
Children in particular have been most vulnerable to this crime. Small children and teenagers are easily enticed, coerced, tricked or sold by family into all forms of abuse including prostitution, molestation, labor and pornography. In the Philippines one out of every 4 children has experienced child abuse. Cebu, Philippines in particular is the #1 city in the world for child exploitation.
Cyber sexual abuse has been a rapidly growing trade in the Philippines and is often implemented by the family members surrounding the child. The child is often taught that this is how they provide for the family. Some children are sold or removed from their family and given to third parties. From here the child may disappear, be forced into prostitution, pornography or servitude. Often they are raped or beaten and have no hope of escape.
Even if the child does become free, there often needs to be a lifetime of counseling and services to help heal them from the physical and emotional trauma they have experienced. This is the service that Project Eden will provide. By supporting Project Eden, you can help us provide these services.
